Biologist / Project Manager - Environment
PEG STRATEGY is looking for a Biologist/Project Manager – Environment to join a team of GIS analysts and projects managers who are motivated by a desire to have a real impact in the clean energy transition and who can’t wait to learn more about you!
YOUR TYPICAL WORKDAY
The position will include tasks similar to the following, which will be flexible depending on how you develop, as we believe it’s essential to capitalize on individual’s strengths and interests.
- Undertake technical studies for large-scale wind or other renewable energy projects, such as wildlife, plants and flora assessments, land use and visual studies, etc.
- Prepare environmental assessment reports for renewable energy projects based on best practices
- Lead environmental impact assessment processes, and collaborate with subject matters experts, on an as-needed basis, depending on the technical studies required
- Coordinate consultation activities with various stakeholder groups, including regulatory bodies, local communities, and First Nations, as needed
- Support permit applications for meteorological masts and other infrastructures
- Build and maintain strong relationships and ensure a good line of communication with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, based on assigned project
- Occasional site visits to improve field knowledge in specific areas
- Support with templates and reports writing
- Participation in business development and innovation projects – in a team and/or individually
- Other ad hoc tasks, to be discussed based on your personal
TON PROFIL
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology (with focus on wildlife studies, ecology, and/or biodiversity conservation), land use planning, environment or any other relevant field
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
- Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)
- Knowledge of environmental assessment mechanisms and legislation in Québec
- In-depth knowledge of the environmental permitting process in Québec (asset)
- Experience in project management
- Knowledge or experience in geomatics (asset)
- Oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Ability to work with tight deadlines
- Willingness and availability to travel for site visits up to 10% of the time for a period of one or more days at a time, on an annual basis.
- Must be available to work a minimum of 2 days per week at PEG Strategy’s coworking space in Montreal. You can work from the office or telework for the remaining days of the week, as you see fit.
