Project Engineer - Renewable Energy

PEG STRATEGY is looking for a Project Engineer – Renewable Energy to join a team of GIS analysts and projects managers who are motivated by a desire to have a real impact in the clean energy transition and who can’t wait to learn more about you!

YOUR TYPICAL WORKDAY

The position will include tasks similar to the following, which will be flexible depending on how you develop, as we believe it’s essential to capitalize on individual’s strengths and interests.

  • Carry out preliminary technical due diligence on renewable energy projects in prospecting phase
  • Coordinate site characterization and feasibility studies, as required, to support of GIS and environment teams
  • Collaborate with development, technical, environmental and GIS teams (internal and external) on ongoing project development efforts and obtain required authorizations and permits.
  • Perform energy analysis (including an estimate of gross and net utilization factors,    energy production patterns, uncertainty of energy estimates)
  • Prepare visual simulations
  • Perform preliminary noise impact assessment or shadow flicker
  • Draft, prepare and finalize technical presentations, reports and other deliverables
  • Mentor employees as needed and support high-priority deliverables
  • Constantly learn and develop practical knowledge of the technologies used and under-development for wind turbines within the North American market
  • Carry out occasional field visits for tasks such as site feasibility, meeting with property owners, etc.
  • Participation in business development and innovation projects – in a team and/or individually
  • Other ad hoc tasks, to be discussed based on your personal

 

YOUR BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, civil engineering or any other related field
  • Member or in the process of becoming a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec or Professional Engineers Ontario
  • Min of 3 years of relevant experience in engineering
  • Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in renewable energy industry (asset)
  • Experience in economic or noise modelling for energy projects (asset)
  • Knowledge in environment and/or geomatics fields (asset)
  • Work independently, sometimes under pressure, on complex tasks
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and availability to travel for site visits up to 5% of the time for a period of one or more days at a time, on an annual basis.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 2 days per week at PEG Strategy’s coworking space in Montreal. You can work from the office or telework for the remaining days of the week, as you see fit.
